Fully Funded PhD Studentship at Department of Information Science, Loughborough University

The Department of Information Science, Loughborough University is offering a PhD research studentship for three years commencing 1st October 2011. The award, which is available for UK/EU applicants, will be offered on a fully-funded basis. The UK/EU university tuition fee will be paid and recipients will also receive a tax-free stipend at the EPSRC standard rate (£13590 in 2010-11). It is expected that applicants will have either a first class honours or a good upper second class degree in a subject relevant to their research proposal.

The Department of Information Science, which has a thriving PhD community, will consider applications from all information science subject areas. However, it is particularly interested in applications in the following areas:

  • Information collection for automated accessibility
  • Technology abandonment
  • Information behaviour impact of libraries
  • Information behaviour of children
  • Behavioural genetic, evolutionary and individual differences in information behaviour
  • The UK information policy landscape: reviewing the impact of New Labour and evaluating the impact of the Coalition financial recovery plans
  • Knowledge management in the voluntary sector
